I am just saying the BF4 update page is not the right place to look, if you wish to know when Mantle is coming.

A game that is supposed to come out with mantle soon is not a place to look for mantle updates.... You have problems welcome to the ignore list.

The tweets from Roy stating otherwise doesn't build any confidence either. We are only a couple days away from February.........won't take long to tell either way what is "categorically true" and what isn't. 😉

If it is delayed, and they give details as to why, not the end of the world. Vagueness is admittedly, frustrating.
BTW, winking smiley faces in no way reveal the character of an author.

Without a WHQL driver. Looking for Mantle patches is rather pointless. And sofar AMD only got a Q1 target with a beta driver. Thief will not ship with Mantle either.
A lot of games that require drivers, deliver the drivers with the installation of the game. I see no reason why the first Mantle drivers couldn't come with a patch.

Mantle may not even be bundled into the standard AMD drivers. It may be an optional download, much like OpenCl was at first.

You might have missed this:

Its worth noticing too, that Thief that comes next month, is not mentioned at all. One can only speculate when, or if that game gets Mantle support as previous proclaimed.

Interestingly, in one of those fake Mantle videos, the guy went into his
Catalyst Control Center and turned Mantle on(under performance tab)

Not sure how he faked that, but regardless, that seems like good way
to implement such a feature. Suspect your problem is Mantle related?
Turn it off, and try DX.

What does that prove? PhysX drivers come with the Nvidia drivers too, but if you don't have PhysX drivers and install a PhysX game, you get PhysX drivers installed by the game.

There is no reason Mantle can't be handled the same.

Still on this webpage:
http://community.eidosmontreal.com/blogs/Thief-PC-Requirements?theme=thief

"We've partnered up with AMD to leverage the advanced capabilities of Radeon graphics processors, including AMD's Eyefinity multi-display technology, TrueAudio, Mantle API, and state-of-the-art DirectX 11 rendering for the best image quality on PC."

The benchmark has been suggested to be up on Steam by the end of the month... Lets see if the mantle patch drops this week and the benchmark populates prior to the BF4 patch.

That would be interesting only because it would be a political change and mean that AMD is no longer waiting around for Dice. I hope they can get their crap together though and it doesn't come to that.

It makes sense that AMD, right now, would be waiting for DICE, but where are the Mantle drivers? Is AMD also having some delays, or simply waiting for some reason?

It most likely get Mantle later after several months have passed with development time. The devs are not letting another API get in the way of DX. DX will be prioritized because it runs on a crapload more systems than Mantle will. And for game companies to meet deadlines, get the cashflow running, calm the investors, Mantle will almost always be post poned after the game is up and running. Unless someone is willing to pay for it. In time Mantle might get bigger user base, but that will be a very difficult road and will cost a lot of money for the manpower. Especially if they are aiming for a simultaniously release with DX and Mantle.

When Microsoft release next update on DX with similar improvements, Mantle will fall dead. Microsoft have way too much power and influence on the game development today. They are not gonna just sit and let a new API take over either.

And if Mantle is enabled on the games several months after release, whats the point with Mantle? You have to be a real AMD fanboy to have such self control that you wont play the awesome game that gets a ton of praise in the media. Its there ready to be played. All you need to do is install it and play with DX...
