I've heard that line more than once.😉

Half of his face was eaten up with cancer. His owner who was a selfish bitch let him suffer for months when he should have been put down last year. She would have let him linger on if not for Jean and others pleading with her to do the right thing. He was a noble animal who really didn't need to suffer like he did.

while being patted by me in the vet's office.

He had a cancer and putting him to sleep was the right thing to do but I'm still soo sad 🙁

RIP my friend

🙁

Sorry for your loss.

I can't say I'm an animal person, but after I put our dog down I cried like a baby.

Sorry about your loss.

yeah, me too. my dog got killed last year, and i don't think i ever cried that much for anybody in my life.🙁

It's strange how we put pets to sleep to "keep them from suffering", yet we let loved ones live until the very end, sometimes even shipping them off to nursing homes to die.

Sorry, just a passing thought I had. Sorry for your loss. 🙁

I agree but I've seen her crying and I caught her crying when she was alone and didn't realise that I was there. She said the relationship she'd had with him was probably the best and purest thing she'd ever experinced in her whole life.Him passing was the end of an era and in a lot of ways was a huge loss to her. She did have him regularly cared for
by the vet though and in the end she did the right thing.I can't judge her too harshly.

What did me in was the way he was purring as I patted him as the vet was preparing
to end his life...he was so trusting. Funny, all my life whenever there's been a really hard thing to do I seem to be the one called on to do it, I wonder what that says.

Buddy is being buried in the side yard under the bush that was his favorite place to rest in the summer, lol,it was also close to the BBQ area, another spot he loved dearly thanks to you 🙂

We've got 7 cats right now, and the oldest is about as old as me (he's maybe a couple months younger). He's half-siamese though so he should still be good for a while longer.

I just hope it happens while I'm away at college so I don't have to deal with it and if nothing else I can just drink it off.

RIP

My cat Orville went sour suddenly at about 16.5. One day he just suddenly started losing weight at an amazing rate. On the second day, we realized he was in bad shape and I took him to the vet and he just looked at him and shook his head. He hated the vet so much that just seeing him would set him off into a tantrum, but that day, he just laid there. He probably had cancer, or kidney failure, and we had to put down, and it's always rough. He lived 3 years past what he was expected to, as he had a intestinal problem that usually kills them in 5 years, but he was fine as long as he had his pill every day.

I'm cat free right now, my 2 dogs are way way into harrassing cats and killing small animals that come into the yard, so I pass up an amazing number of free cats/kittens I get offered.

You did the right thing, but making the decision is hell.

I want to thank you all for your kind responses, particularly those of you who took the time to pm me with pictures and stories about your own cats.

My housemate wants to get a dog next but as for me, well kitten season will be here soon
and I'm thinking a little black cat might wander my way, I gotta have a guard at the BBQ grill after all 🙂
