The Amazing Disappearing Properties Tabs!

Greetings all,

I posted earlier about the "Share..." option disappearing and asking why this might happen.

It seems as if this is only one part of a greater problem. I have just noticed that not only is the Sharing tab gone from Disk Properties, but also Previous Versions, Security, and Quotas.

What could possibly have happened to get rid of these tabs? I'm an Administrator--the only user account on the computer (right now)! I get all of them when I rclick on specific folders or files, but not on drives! My laptop does not have this problem.

What is going on? And how do I fix it? Is this a .NET framework problem?

Do you have more than one drive in your system ? If so, is the drive you want to share out a FAT32 formatted drive.

Yes I have more than one drive.
1 drive 80 Gb, 1 partition. NTFS
1 drive 80 Gb, 2 partitions 40 Gb each. Both NTFS
1 USB drive 1 gb, 1 partition, FAT.

I'm trying to share any of them. None of them will share. As I said, four of the seven tabs disappeared.

Two things to check:

1. Make sure 'use simple file sharing' is unchecked in Explorer>Tools>Options>View>Advanced.

2. Check the following registry key: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer.

If there is a Nosecuritytab DWord key, set it to 0 or delete the key
