The ageless question(s): Which CD-RW media and burning software

Hi,

I am trying to backup my cd collection, but am having some issues with getting them to play on my Home Stereo DVD and car CD players. Here is what I know so far:

Audio discs only (although some have that annoying 'extra' stuff)
Using a Plextor 40/12/40
My DVD player will only accept RW media. (Sort of odd, IMO. The manuall only mentions its support of cd-rw, nothing about cd-r. I have not been able to get ANY cd-r media to work and my -rw is a bit hit and miss)
I normally use NERO 5.5, but an eval copy of CloneCD seems to work be a little more reliable, but still not 100%.
Reading and burning at 4X seems to work best, but still not 100%

Thus, I am wondering what brand of cd-rw media is the most reliable?
also
Which software works best for copying audio? My CloneCD eval seems to work best, but maybe if I just changed the Nero options it would work as well or better than CloneCD (I already own Nero).

Thanks for the help!

i use nero (i think ihave 5.8 or something) for burning audio. as for media, i usually just buy whatever is cheapest. i am told they won't last as long but the only problems i've had are with the coloured cds for some reason.
