Something I've been saying ever since this guy rose to power. Bad behavior and incompetence is being normalized by Trump and his lemmings Yeah I use lemming as a pejorative when evidence stares one in the face yet the denials continue.

However people not inclined to support Trump fall into the same trap giving him too much credit for normal behavior. Or as Chris Rock put it "what do you want a cookie for doing shit you are supposed to do"?

Trump drained the old swamp so he could institute a new and more deviant swamp. Meh the bible beaters need to read their own book before they spout off at the mouth about the obvious. This guy is atypical of the kinds of people they support in the name of God. Truth is that I'm a bona fide Christian that cannot stand religion or church people.
Isaiah 5:20King James Version (KJV)
20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Author seems to have forgotten about Bush. He was arguably worse than Trump, and people still took him seriously. What gives? Unless... is it because bush beat a man and trump beat a woman?

Bush at least pretended to play by the existing rules and not be actively trying to fight the rule of law.

Bush was way below Trump before his own presidency, signing ~130 death warrants as chief of texas. He was reported to have signed them "with relish," having not reviewed or taken an interest in any of the cases. In texas, no less! But trump seems a bit sexist, so....

Not going to start a thread on this one, but it fits here because it directly relates to the topic of lowered expectations. This is actually a poll from last October. Maybe it was even discussed here last year.

http://www.npr.org/2016/10/23/49889...warmed-to-politicians-who-commit-immoral-acts

Evidently, when asked in 2012 if a person of low moral character (defined as immoral acts in their personal life) could nevertheless be an good POTUS, only 30% of white evangelicals said "yes." When asked the same exact question in October of last year, 72% said "yes." A +42% increase in just 4 years. A staggering increase for such a short period of time. I won't labor on the obvious, the hypocrisy and total unreason of Trump's core supporters who will excuse anything he does while excoriating democrats for far less. What's most interesting is that this increase implies a recognition on their part of Trump's low moral character, or else they wouldn't have felt the need to adjust their expectations so dramatically to meet the reality of Trump. Yet if you talk to Trump supporters, they never openly admit that he's a dirt bag, in spite of the fact that lots of them clearly know it.

Trump took out an ad to call for the execution of five innocent teenagers and then when informed they were innocent refused to take it back.

Durrrrrr.
