Competition is good for us all. When a card manufacturer leaps ahead in performance, we all see price drops! Now that Nvidia has their new card out, all of their existing cards will slowly come down in price, even their competitors cards. Competition is good for us all! If anyone wants the death of ATI or Nvidia, you're pretty stupid. If there is only one card maker out there, they will charge whatever price they want for their cards.

why get a another Geforce 4? THe 9500NP's are gonna come down even more in price and with the softmod you too could run virtually any game at almost any res with max settings smooth as silk.:)

The GeForce FX has pushed down the prices of the Radeon 9700 Pro already. The cheapest one on Pricewatch is $270.75 shipped. Damn, that is a good deal...

You would think that, but if Nvidia doesn't sell too many FX's, then you may not see the prices of Geforce 4's go down that dramatically, as they need to recover their losses.

Amen brotha! Cheaper goods for all! Heck I still think my original GF3 for $65 (bought when GF4's came out) is good enough for me for now but hey hey....

the reason would be that the geforce 4 is tried and tested and is guaranteed not to dissapoint. I don't see myself upgrading my geforce 4 for atleast another year

I'm with you, brother. Our GeForce4's will do us for another year no problem. I'll just be upgrading my mobo, CPU and RAM in the next year.:)

Yup. The ATI goodies sound nice and all, but the realistic improvement over my current GF4 Ti4400 would be marginal at best (for the money). And the price on GF4's are just too low to pass up.

This is my formula for video happiness!
Rock solid drivers + Proven reliability + plenty of FPS HP + LOW PRICE = :)

Plus, I don't see even Doom III killing my 128MB card anytime soon.

*note: I am definitely a "happy with the 6 month old technology" kind of guy. I have found that it saves me a ton of money PLUS a ton of aggravation from not being the "Beta tester" for the hardware companies. No Bleeding edges here!
