The 9600XT is now available

Yeah it chould be cheaper because for $15 more you could get an FX5900nu .. doesnt make the 9600TX a very good buy .. unless you get Half-life2 with it .. but you dont its not out yet.

the $205 5900 have 2.8 ns ram, not 2.2

i dont much like the cooling solution from asus

and whats up with no bundled software?

Gemve is a rip off. They sent me a defective monitor, I sent it back, they say they never got it. Prove it to the CC company they recieved it. They have the balls to charge me a restocking fee on a defective item they claimed they never recieved back from me.

Not to mention their 9800 SE problems. Sending people incorrect cards and charging them restocking fees on their mistakes.

Terrible business...........................

As for the 2.8ns memory. Who gives a rip unless you are planning on overclocking it? You can get evga 5900s for 220 and they will hit ultra speeds if you need it. 5900 NU is still faster than the 9600 XT even if not overclocked.

The Asus 9600 xt has ramsinks only on one side, or just the way the picture looks ? $215 is a lot for a pushed 9600, better deal is the Sapphite Ultimate (Fireblade) for $188, has the Zalman HS and a good sw/game bundle.

Oh come on. There is no point in getting a 2.8ns 5900 if you can get a 2.2ns one for $15-25 more.

As for the 9600XT, it's a good card for $180 and below, particuarly for DX9 performance. It has a small niche, I agree, but it's something.

buy.com has the XFx 5900 for $177 after rebate. Even at stock 400/800MHz, this is a much faster card than a lousy 9600XT. DX9 full precision would be the only area it ins't, and there's not much of that going on these days.

FINALLY! and its the ASUS version too!

It's pretty expensive though, but it comes with HL2 so its worth it.

Edit:

Only $180 at GameVE, but not ASUS

GameVE

I got a Radeon 9600 "SE" (actually Pro) at BB with a HL2 coupon and have it overclocked to 492Mhz so I'm happy. 🙂

yeah, i'm waiting to see if people are getting 2.2ns with the XFX

I got the BFG 5900 at Best Buy ($200 AR) and it autodetected the memory OC to 950 (from 850 stock). I'd assume it has 2.2ns chips on it, but I'm not sure (don't wanna mess with taking the heatsink off).

Keep in mind that the 9600XT just came out, its going to drop in price. But I would agree, its got a very small niche environment. ATI should have increased the memory speeds with the core speed.

Sorry, I perfer the 9600XT to a DustBuster 😉 You do get HL2 for free (Yes, its Single and Multiplayer)

But I must mention that ASUS cards have VIVO, which is a definite plus for me. But I already have an AIW 9600pro and it came with HL2 too 😀
