Things have been rather slow, and we wish to assure you we will not give up!

we have been working on finding a few new Procs to test (only got my college fund to help me with this :p)
Revising our LN2 container and building a few phase cooling systems :D

here is a look at the quad core ready phase sys i have been working on.
she will pull down to -50C on a QX6700 @ 4.2GHZ and -22C Full load 1.65Vcore

you can check out the work log for our Phase unit over here: http://www.teamnexgen.org/forum/hardwar...cussion/234-prometeia-twice-7-mod.html"]http://www.teamnexgen.org/forum/hardware-discussion/234-prometeia-twice-7-mod.html[/URL]

There seems to be this ideology that an ES chip is always better or specially picked. This really isn't the case, during production a certain batch just gets sent to be made as ES's and not multiplier locked. Some ES are locked just as the OEM/Retail versions.

It's far better to buy ten 631's and then test each one than rely on an ES being the king of the hill.

what Intel LGA775 motherboard would you recommend for stability with, maybe, limited overclocking, in an ATX form factor ?

i'm thinking the P5B Deluxe is a 965P chipset, chosen over a 975 chipset board.

( with a Quad 6600, and 4 x 2 GB memory modules )

right now i have 4 GB with an Opteron 175 running 3D studio Max, and am about to add a voice recognition program.

Congrats / Good Luck with the 8 GHz project. not sure where you are.

what would you think of adding a 3D Studio Max benchmark ? the "animated Symmetry" *.max file that comes with version 7 is very compute-intensive. it ran for maybe 12 hours on a 3.6 GHz intel 560, vintage 1Q 2005, i think that was the 560.

8ghz netburst.

That might compete with a 4ghz core 2 duo ;)

It is my understanding that intel has had 10ghz ALUs for years now in their labs.

They win :D

You might need continous liquid nitrogen flow from a nitrogen tank to maintain the temperature gradient for heat transfer...simply dumping LN will not work.
Maybe use a peltier or heat pump?

the P5B Deluxe is a very nice board for overclocking and remains stable under the stress of high overclocks. The 975x chipset provides more features and has some stability issues with C2D's There was a 975X chip revision for C2D support (XBX2) but i have never been attracted to the 975X, I have been told it is rock solid stable with light overclocks id have to say its 965 for overclocking and 975 for stability and extra features.

Why bother with 2 sticks of RAM in a record setting attempt? One stick should be sufficient and is one less barrier. Just a random thought.

the real questions is, will it be able to run the Vista Aero theme? and what's the Futuremark CPU score.

Try a single stick of 256MB ram instead? If you don't need to run benchmarks then why bother with more?
I'm sure with some money and contact at Corsair or OCZ you might be able to get some cherry-picked modules.

V2V3,

No offence but some of the guys over at XS are the best of the best when it comes to setting world records. You?ve definitely got your work cut out if you intend on setting the most sought after WR, especially if you haven?t a great deal, or any experience with LN2.

You must keep in mind that if you plan on setting any world records, your setup should only consist of the bear minimum to reduce any unnecessary overheads.

In this case less processor and to a certain extent NB overhead. For example: Use the smallest sized memory module you can and only use one stick. Obviously a stick that is capable of the speeds required for the task. Also use a PCI video card, and IDE hard drive etc. Your only focus should be the processor?s frequency.

The 965P is a better MCH over the 975x for this task, as its internal memory timings are more relaxed, thus reducing the stress on highly overclocked 1:1 memory communication.

If you want advice on LN2 usage you should ask the guys over at XS, they hold a wealth of knowledge in this arena. The only bit of advice I can give you with regards to LN2, is to carry out the LN2 usage in a controlled environment and one that is sufficiently ventilated - preferably outside in the open as the gases released from LN2 are poisonous. ;)

Good luck.

8GHz Project on Digg.com and Overclockingwiki.org

OverclockingWiki.org is Digging our 8GHz project, with a little support it could front page :)

Written by dekard Thursday, 14 June 2007

Ok, so this is pretty old news by now but I wanted to post about it since I think its quite the project. The guys at Team NexGen are working on overclocking a system to 8Ghz using Liquid Nitrogen cooling and a very specially modified board.

Here's one of the LN2 coolers they may use. For the rest of the photos you'll have to head to their site . There is a small mountain of photos there with most every detail you'd want.

At any rate, with the proc volted that high, it'd be thrashed in a couple of hours, max. Not much point in waiting around. And there's no way you're actually going to run it stable at any kind of load. So it might seem kind of like a useless feat - and it is - but you don't play video games because it is in any way useful either, now do you?

People with advanced degrees know that the word "there" means "not here", and "their" means "belongs to them". So, it seems as if almost everyone who has posted in this thread has a much better chance of having an advanced degree than you.;)
when I pos I don`t bother with proper grammar.
That's quite obvious, isn't it?
That way fools like you who have nothing better to say can nit pick and try to be all smart.....
Those of us with IQ's above 150, according to MENSA, don't have to "try to be all smart".;)
It this was a masters or doctinal thesis then thats another story...
Was that supposed to read "If this was a masters or a doctoral thesis, then that's another story"?:disgust:
I speak 5 languages fluently
I doubt that, but if so, English obviously isn't one of them.
and I have a masters in a field not related to computers.
I seriously doubt that, since people with advanced degrees know that the word "there" means "not here", and "their" means "belongs to them".;)
Your advanced degree is in what ??
Mine is in medicince. Yours is in?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To the OP, what exactly is the point in trying to publicize the fact that you can't get your system overclocked to anywhere near the world record? Shouldn't you wait until you've booted to somewhere near 8 Ghz, before proclaiming you've got a system that's a world record contender?

LOL myocardia, you are spot on. The only thing USA about this the fact they are implying mission accomplished before getting even close. As an american, I wish they'd have left off the "bring it home for the gipper" attitude. This isn't patriotism, this is some dude trying to finagle 15 min of wanna-be fame by claiming they are going to climb mount everest, someday, maybe.

What's with the necro fever of old threads these days? ;)

I still stand by my post above...Mission Accomplished...oh snap, its nearly a year later and they ain't done jack to get any closer to the end of the mission...and yes I'm talking about 8GHz and not Iraq (that would be fodder for P&N banishment ;))

ROFL!!!

Lets see your magic.

Give me 50ghz, move the decimal point over to the left on all the Wprime scores, and all a big MV on the voltage.

Well be creative!

http://i125.photobucket.com/al...3/aigomorla/Wprime.jpg

Im not too happy there using koolance full cover blocks. Those units use ALU in them. Im not happy to see there mixing metals period.

To be honest these guys are gonna have problems with:

k|ngp|n
Runmc
hipro5

And im not even counting Fugger here.

Hoewver fugger, and runmc i believe are US based.
