Are you kidding? It didn't sell well because it was an incredibly niche game with absolutly no advertising, not because it was only on the PS3.

Have you even heard the name "Valkyria Chronicles" Outside the internet and gaming geeks?

It's hard to secure a marketing budget for your particular title when it's a niche game for a niche console. If it sold 50K copies in the US, opening it up to the 360 on it's own could have upped that number to 100-150K copies. At those numbers it might actually get a marketing budget which might have propelled it further.

Only sure fire blockbusters get guaranteed marketing. Other titles have to prove themselves first.

I agree it was a great game. It just wasn't the game we wanted it to be. It didn't deserve the 10s it got, but I enjoyed playing it.

In all honesty I got exactly what I wanted from this game. After I beat the story, all its used for is to create havok in the streets.... Its a huge hit when I throw a party and everyone is drunk and playing GTA4. GOOD times!

It has to be one of the worst selling highly rated games ever. Sega spends 3905730957903 dollars hyping the latest pos Sonic game and does nothing to promote this gem (in the US at least).

LMAO, that's a good point. There are some fantastic underrated games out there. It usually comes down to the lack of advertising & bland taste buds the masses have in their games.

Dead Space is probably my favorite game of 2008. Better than GOW2.

I think a great deal of it has to do with not being able to identify with the game, and it being a new IP where the title didnt speak for itself. If you cant see yourself playing the game, youre not going to buy it. Especially when cartoony characters are mixed into serious subjects.

I'm sure zack and wiki would have sold better if it didnt feature wonderboy pirate and his stupid little monkey. Boom blox would have sold better if it didnt center around sheep and piggy blocks. I truly believe beyond good and evil would have sold much better if it didnt feature an ugly girl with green lipstick. None of those titles or imagery really give away what the game is about or how good it is.

So when I look at a game named valkyria chronicles, which conjures up an idea of it being a game of historical stories about norse women in plate armor, I'm already not interested. Then I look at images of it and see cartoony anime girls with pigtails named rosie driving tanks, its just so confusing that I just know this game just aint for me. And even if I got past that - like it was said, its a niche game with a niche system. Fail.
