Holy BBQ, this is insane. $40,000 for a pair of pliers!

http://leatherman.com/argentum/collection/

EDIT:

Apperantly, these things are made to order. If they sell all 25 of the $40,000 model, that equates to 1,000,000 US Dollars!

25 Change Del Rey will be produced for $40,000 each. Others do not appear to have production limits, so I'll Assume they sell 25 of each of the overpriced pliers and can make one pair per day.

+1,000,000
+300,000
+90,000
+22,500
+90,000
+30,000
$1,538,500 (for 150 pairs of Pliers.. Normal Leathermans sell for less than $100)

Not too bad for less than a years work.

Hand made tools are hard to come by these days. I don't think that tool is worth $40k though. You can buy a hand built racing engine from Mercedes for $40k.

i think the 18k gold handles and the elaborate engraving might have something to do with it...

Oh this is exactly what I've been looking for! Thanks OP! I put in for 10. Now I don't want to hear any crap from anyone here saying I shouldn't have bought so many and now they can't buy one because they are all out of stock. It's just too bad for you. First come, first serve. Call me greedy and inconsiderate, I don't care. I just had to buy 10 of these bad boys. I can't wait to get mine and start plying things? I don't even know if "plying" is a word, but that's what I'm going to do with them.

I was gonna post that it's exploitative of the guys who have too much money to burn and/or have to have every Leatherman tool ever made.
But now I think the target market WANTs to have Leathermans priced at 40K, the outrageous price is the main part of the appeal that makes this special.

Okay, that ranks up there with one of the stupidest things I've ever seen.

This has to be #2

That's not really a BAD deal if you own multiple exotics or rare cars and care about the paint. It also helps defray the absurd cost by being "refillable for life".

Unless it comes with a lifetime supply of cocaine I'm not buying it.

That's stupid. Fuck Leatherman for producing such stupid crap. Gerber 4 life!

Seriously.. If Coke went out and produced a $10k can of coke, I'm never gonna drink Coke again. I hate shit like this.
