Finally, about time a proper gas-powered car won at Le Mans!

It's been a decade since the last time a non-diesel car won LMP1.
 
That's what I'm curious about, the engine changes each team had between seasons. I figured Audi had squeezed the diesel rock dry but apparently not. And Porsche got their silly V4 to be reliable and not overheat.

Did the teams up the joules category they were in from last year?

yeah, porsche and audi are now in the 8 mj category, iirc.
 
Apparently the Audi and Porsche LMP1 cars averaged 8-9 mpg for the duration of the race. That's pretty amazing if true.
