Mostly a pretty good list though a couple of the Dylan songs aren't really folk, like Tangled Up in Blue.

I'd call them folk. They tell a story in the folk tradition. When folk music gets regimented like classical, with "approved" instrumentation and style, it'll die as a pure art form.

They should have put some Bruce Springsteen in that list. He has an urban folk style that's as good as anyone else in that group.

I thought that myself. Perhaps The Ghost of Tom Goad.

Some good stuff there, it could have used a solo Richard Thompson song or two but they did include him via Fairport Convention.

And no Bruce Cockburn? Hopefully none of his fans does have a rocket launcher...

predictably, the list is dominated by bob dylan and simon and garfunkel, and that's ok, but no grateful dead? where's "me and my uncle"? or "charlie on the m.t.a."?

no mention of the mamas and the pappas or the association? that's pure crap. if i hear "alice's restaurant" one more time i'll shoot someone.

Exactly. The Grateful Dead aren't folk, nor was The Association. The Mamas and Papas came from folk backgrounds and were a crossover from folk.
