The 10 000 Yuans rig

Hi all,

I'm fixing to do a come-back to desktop computing after 5 years of notebooking by building a multi-purpose 10k ¥uans rig. Considering market prices here (china), I'll say 10000¥ = 1350$.
It'll be used mainly for gaming (FarCry2, SC2, D3, GTA) and video editing (Avid, FinalCut) on a 23/24" (probably two of them later).
I'll be buying from 360buy.com a chinese newegg-like (newegg.com.cn is never cheaper). I can also hit some local computer store if some parts are missing online but I may not get the same prices (depending on my bargaining skills).

What I'm after is :
- balance : mid-end parts everywhere, best price/performance possible, slightly favoring the price if required.
- completeness : i need everything from the CPU to the printer.
- availability (on the chinese interweb).

For each main part I tried to find the best two/three alternatives after a lot of reading of both this forum and the hardware thread on TeamLiquid.net (3 days of heavy lurking !).
For the not-so-important parts I cite my choice and the price I can get, feel free to comment.

#Main parts recap
Core i5 2500k@4.2Ghz #
Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 #
8G Ripjaws 1333 #
HD6850 HAWK 860/4000 1G #
Seagate 1TB 32MB #
Vertex2 40G #
Antec 550W (80+ bronze) #
Philips 24" 16:10 TN 5ms #

Grand total :
8951¥ // 1390$

#CPU
Core i5 2500k box :: 1470¥ // 228$ (local store) #

Running @4.2Ghz or so. Nothing too fancy.

#Cooling
DeepCool Killer whale premium :: 330¥ // 51$ (local store) #

#RAM
G.SKILL Ripjaws DDR3 1333 4G Cas 9 :: 139¥ x 2 = 278¥// 43$ (online) #

The 4G Ripjaws are really cheap.
8 gigs for video editing/encoding.

#Mobo
Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3 :: 1000¥ // 155$ (local store) #

I'm not going SLI or anything.

#GPU
MSI HD6850 HAWK 860/4000 1G :: 1100¥ // 170$ (local store) #

I'll be running Linux mainly (nVidia 😛).

#HDD
Seagate 1 TB 32MB :: 380¥ // 60$ (local store) #

The F3 was nowhere to be found, and I really really tried.

#SSD
OCZ Vertex2 40G SATA-2 :: 599¥ // 93$ (online) #

It'll be used for my main Linux system (except /home), pagefile.sys on windows and maybe the game I play the most at any given time.

#Case
CoolerMaster RC-S100-KKN2 :: 349¥ // 54$ (online) #

Clean style, good air-flow, anti-noise panel on the left. Seems to be sold in China only.

#PSU
Antec VP 550P (80+ Bronze-like but lacks 110V support) :: 389¥ // 60$ (online) #

Good price online, very good product all around. A chinese review showed a 80+bronze rating would totally makes sense. It's just that 110v is mandatory for 80+ ratings.

#Screen
Philips 240B1CB 16:10 TN 5ms :: 1599¥ // 248$ (online) #

16:10 panels are even harder to find here compared to the US and Europe.
I usually don't do FPS (no real need for 2ms).

.Headphone
Sennheiser HD 228 :: 379¥ // 59$ (online) *

For home/computer use only. With the "mod" described here.

#Speakers
Sony SRS-D5 2.1 40W :: 399¥ // 62$ (online) #

Good price/power/quality ratio.

#Keyboard
Fuhlen L400 :: 39¥ // 6$ (online) #

Cheap + low-profile.

.Mouse
MX518, I already have one still rocking :: 0¥ // 0$ *

#Burner
Samsung 20x :: 130¥ // 20$ (online) #

#Router
Netgear Wireless-N 300 WNR2000 :: 192¥ // 29$ (online) #

Wifi-n, supported by dd-wrt, cheap.

.All in one printer / copier / scanner
HP Deskjet 2050 :: 318¥ // 49$ (online) *

Seems good enough for the few times I'll need it.
