JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP N.J. (Reuters)
A woman in northern New Jersey accidentally sealed one of her eyes with superglue but apparently suffered no permanent damage, police said yesterday.
Gladys Wyse, 43, was reaching for a bottle of eyedrops Thursday but grabbed a container of super glue instead, applying the contents to one eye and gluing the lids together, Jefferson Police Sgt. Eric Wilsusen said.
"She just grabbed the wrong bottle" Wilsusen said.
Unable to open her eye, Wyse called the police department. A rescue squad was sent to her home in the Lake Hopatcong section of Jefferson and took her to St. Clare's Hospital in Dover, New Jersey, where she was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Wilsusen said he did not believe Wyse was blinded or had and permanent eye damage. She could not be reached for comment.
