<< I don't hate SP, exactly, I just think it is enormously overrated. I think it is essentially a gimmicky show that relies on its profanity for the sake of novelty. I can watch Simpsons episodes over and over and laugh out loud each time - I have only ever laughed out loud once or twice at SP, and I find it intolerable after the first viewing because it is so simplistic and ultimately dull-witted. >>
Sorry, but you are wrong. You find SP intolerable after the first viewing because you think it is essentially a gimmicky show that relies on its profanity for the sake of novelty. You really aren't giving SP a chance. You have to watch it with a clear mind. Now, I'm not saying you're 100% wrong here. Back when SP started airing, most of the viewers were 7th and 8th graders that watched it for the profanity. I mean, every middle schooler was talking about all the bad things that were said on SP. However, that novelty slowly died down. So, slowly, the middle schoolers stopped watching it. What's left are the true fans that actually "get" the humor. SP is very funny and *clever* on top of it, especially when they make fun of current of events. But maybe you can't accept or understand the humor of South Park. You are accustomed to Simpsons-style humor and can't handle change. But that's ok...
There are two types of people that watch South Park. There are those that watch it for the swearing. Then, there are those who watch it because it's funny and smartly written. You seem to think that the *only* viewers are the ones that watch it for the swearing.
There's a whole 'nother world out ther... open your eyes.
