I have a few friends over here that didnt bring computers with them during the study abroad, so i've let them use my computer at times instead of making them use the ones in the lab.

Well today i come home and notice that i had been logged off, no biggie, someone musta been using my laptop while i was gone. So i load up IE to go find the website i was lookin at before i left, and sure enough, the first 8 sites in the bar are sex sites.

BLUGH!

Didnt even have the courtsey to wipe the IE History away, just left his 'wank trail' right there for me to see....

2 cleaning wipes and a good lysol spray later, I think the computer sharing is done with from this point on.

Anyone ever have someone do this to you before?

roiiight, "somebody else" was looking at those websites.

my roommates are probably more computer geeky than i am, however my computer 0wnz theirs flat out (they're ICS majors, but 1 has a celeron dell and the other has an AMD that crashes on him every few months (hard drive failure twice, motherboard failure once, psu failure once - all in the past 6-8 months). I don't let them use my computer though, but if they didn't have their own i might consider it.

however at parties when i use my computer for music i usually come back to find some gay pr0n on my desktop, but it doesn't bug me that much.

I have boarders that stay at my house in the summer.
One summer, before I knew anything about networking I plugged this one boarder into my hub to share my net connection with him .. not only did he hog the bandwidth, but he was stealing nekkid pics of my girl off of my hard drive .. which were actually in password protected zips .. which are very easy to crack .. well, I was stupid then, didn't know enough about computers. We ended up kicking him out cause he insisted on smoking pot in the backyard in the wee hours of the AM when my folks were getting ready for work .. not only that, but 800 bucks went missing and we couldn't pin it on either him or the other nightmare boarder we had at the time. Fvckin bastard is still probably wankin it to those pics the bastard! :|

Try every other day for two semesters.
Here's a thread I posted a couple years back about my first roomate in college. Being a nice guy and having the only PC in our room, I let him use my desktop to type papers as he needed to. That lead to surfing the net, which didn't bother me too much. It got annoying when I'd get a new game, install it, go to class, and come back to him playing it. Then one day (I remember it was the anniversary of John Lennon's assassination, because I had found a picture of him online that I wanted for something, but IE crashed so I went to my history to get the link) I found out he had been surfing porn sites on my computer. I installed filtering software, but no dice. Couldn't password protect the PC, because he "needed it for projects" and even if I put up a SS password, it was only running Win98 (my hardware config was too unstable for win2k, it'd crash at random for no reason) so he could get out of it easily.

I even "inturrupted" him once (ack). Came back from dinner, door to the room was unlocked so I walked right in. He hears me and starts franticly closing windows and goes off to the bathroom.

I ended up blocking a lot of his favorite porn sites in my hosts file, but he was a compuserve member, so he'd visit their porn forums. I installed a keylogger and got his password, which to this day hasn't changed. I thought about changing his password, but never did.

That idiot was also the reason I got my first (and only) virus on my laptop. Porn site script exploit, no suprise there.

Not to mention his barrage of printing during finals week somehow killed my excellent HP printer.

The next year, he went into the guard, but around 9/11, he suddenly "hurt his back" and was discharged. He came back the spring semester of our sophmore year, and had a roomate who had apparently heard of his porn surfing ways (word was out among the reshall, this guy was a sickie in a lot of ways, I'm not going to mention what we found when we moved his bed away from the wall at the end of the year, lets just say it nearly had two college aged men throwing up) and denied him complete access to his computer. My (new) roomate told me that he (porn addict) had gotten banned from the labs in the reshall for (you guessed it) looking at porn late at night.

Needless to say, I only room with people who have their own PC. It's actually a standard roomate screening question. "Do you have your own pc" and if the answer is no, "do you expect to be using mine?"

Of course, I run a much more secure OS now (ha!) so it shouldn't even be an issue.

In today's world of cheap computers, HD selector switches, very competent multi-boot software, and even (if forced to use it) XP profiles, I never share my computers for more than the occasional visitor.

In university we used to go on other people's computers (that we knew... they weren't strangers or anything), change their wallpaper to a rather sick porn image, and then set their home page to one of those sites that has a million re-generating popups (it's funny if they don't know about alt+F4).

I have vnc setup on my computer, and one time i was at work to see how my divx encoding, and my ftping was going. so i check it out, and one of my roommates is watchin pr0n...i can tell by the file name opened with mplayer...i was pretty disgusted....and its not like he doesn't have his own computer either...he just felt compelled to watch porn on my computer...it was pretty sick...the worst part was when i came home, i found a roll of toilet paper by my keyboard....
