I cant take this anymore...

Not only has the speed been HORRENDOUS the past week, but 5 calls to the support center today have hung up on me (apparently their phone systems are also messed up and they either cant hear me and i hear them yelling 'Are you there sir?", or the system disconnects me 3 seconds after they pick up the phone)

I'm even paying the extra $20 a month for twice the speed (which mind you only goes that higher speed maybe 2 days a week). Most of the time lately i've been lucky if i get above 1 megabit/sec (im paying for 3megabit/sec).

I've had enough of this crappy service. As soon as i can actually get through to someone, im cancelling this crap and switching to DSL.

You might want to make sure your phone line can handle DSL first before you cancel your cable service.

What are they giving you for upload? Just curious. We have Cox here too, but I'm using DSL.

Cable Internet services is either a hit or a miss. Charter Communications out here in the boonies isn't a five star service either. There are too many drops and disconnects that make you very mad, especially when you are playing MMORPG or NBA2k3...

Cox sucks cox! I hated them when I was in New Orleans. Tons of problems with dl speeds and service outages. Their horrible service forced me to switch to Bellsouth DSL (I despise Bellsouth almost as much as Cox).

Now that I'm in NYC, I'm more than thrilled with Roadrunner through Time Warner.

Well i finally got through and got the same answer they always give me....

Him: "Looks like there is a problem in your area, but the technitions are currently working on it and it will be restored as soon as possible."
Me: "How soon is as soon as possible? Its been crappy for over a week now."
Him: "Sorry sir, thats all the information i have"

As soon as the "broadband over powerlines" becomes mainstream, all these cable ISP companies will be crapping in thier pants.

That's like saying as soon as all cars run on non-fossil fuel sources, then the Middle East would be crapping their pants. That's highly unlikely and you know it.

I *shudder* love Bellsouth. I've had DSL from them for the past 2 years with one outage. They sent a tech out at 11pm to fix it too so it was only down for a few hours.

Sorry to hear you've had such bad luck with Cox. I've had them for a few years and haven't had any problems with their service.
