They can f'ing die.

I'm tired of them processing the most expensive item 1st, them all the little thing out of order to make me overdraft.
I'm gonna bitch at them to give me the fee's back, then cancel my fvcking account.

ARRRRRRRGGGGGGG

What makes you think it would be different with any other bank?

It doesen't matter anyway.. I mean.. Huh? If you don't have the funds, then you don't have the funds...

If they did it the other way around, then your bigger check would have been the one to bounce.. many would consider that to be a bad thing, especially if it's something like rent?

I agree that BOFA sucks however isn't it your responsibility to maintain adequate funds to cover your checks?

If a few checks clear the SAME DAY, it doesn't matter if the $534 check clears first or the $53 check.

BOFA sucks.

Not as much as US Bank, though.

It's their fault. They should just cover all of your overdrafts from their own pockets...whatzamatta with them?

What RossMAN said. If they all clear the same day, and you have $50 in your account, them processing the $60 check first and then the $5 check is going to overdraft just like if they processed the $5 check first and then the $60 check

well this all stems from me trying to pay off a credit card, and the ass clowns at that place put the wrong dates in to have it taken out of my account, there for to my suprise there was a $300 charge on my account that i didn't expect till the end of this month.

Sooo, i'm on the phone waiting to talk to someone right now, and i will tell them to cancel that electronic fund cause it's still showing as there and hasn't reversed.

And the small items were done over a week ago and they just now today decided to charge them.
I've gone throu this with them before, and now i'm done, i'm gonna tell them to give me the fee's back.

Well the damn bank won't do sh!t, so i guess i'm SOL on that money.

Oh well the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

What kind of an account do you have with them? Student? Do you have any savings in there whatsoever? I used to have a student account but recently switched over to some program where as long as I have $5k in my savings/checking total, there are no montly fees or overdraft fees.

The bank's defense for processing the largest checks first is that those are probably the most important checks (car payment, mortgage, etc.) and if there isn't enough money to cover all the checks, it is probably better for the customer to pay the largest ones first.

Obviously that's not true in every case, but it does make some sense.

Ok now it makes a little more sense but I'm still wondering what clearing large checks first has to do with overdrawing your account and how that's BOFA's fault?

Anyhow when you call their customer service remember to write down the date, time and rep's name of who you spoke with. CANCEL your automatic ACH debits from your account.

If you're like me you never know if you have $14 or $140 in your account, pay your bills when YOU want to (assuming you pay them on time). So don't do the automatic thing, even if you call them on May 1 and tell them to pay it on May 5 it NEVER works out.

Only ask them to pay your cc the same day you want the payment made.

Besides BOFA offers online banking why not just do it online?

Agreed, although their service can be a bit bureaucratic now that they have expanded so much.

BTW, banks do not have an excuse in posting largest checks first. This practice is not allowed in some states, because it's only purpose is so that they can collect more fees. Stay away from Wells Fargo, they are also infamous for this practice. If you're really upset, see if you can file a complaint with your state banking regulators. This not true in all states however. In some states (like OR for example), having adequate funds in the bank at the moment the check is written is the law so much to the point that it is illegal to post-date.

Yeap. Free Checkin w/o minimum.

Anyway, my company developes software for banks (Not BOFA) check posting and I am not aware of them posting large dollar amount first or last.

I got rid of my BOFA years ago. The hardwood slats made my back hurt.

Then, a friend turned me onto this new thing called a SOFA. Sure, I was skeptical at first, but after many nights on the SOFA, I honestly did notice a difference.

Jeff, get rid of that BOFA and get a SOFA; you won't regret it. :)

I think I get what he meant.

Lets say if you have $50 in the account and 2 checks came in the same day, a $60 and a $20.
If they let the $20 go through first, then the $60, you would get only 1 bounced check.
But if they let the $60 go first, then the $20, you would get 2 bounced checks.
See how evil they can be ???
