Thats it Halo 1 2 and 3 are the greatest games i have ever played

Today I began playing parts of halo 3 legendary and got my Halo 3 Original Soundtrack (2-CD Set) and i must say I have yet to play a better game, Half life is up near the rank i put Halo so is Call Duty 4

What makes this game so good?

p.s if you don't like the game, the sound track is kick ass

Not to hate or rip on the gameplay, but wouldn't you say the movement in the game is a little slow compared to most FPS?

Doesn't the Chiefs armor weigh in at 1000 pounds ?

Question for some of the Halo fanboys; if the Halo soldiers are called Spartans (Greek), why does some of the music feature Irish themes and phrases?

Never enjoyed the series much at all for the single player part of things. Played through Halo 1, and thought it was alright but never played it through again. Tried Halo 2 and just didn't care for it so I never got very far. Started Halo 3 (rented it) and again couldn't get into it. I definitely prefer the half life series (console or PC) and the CoD series over this one.

I'm really enjoying Halo 1 on the PC right now. Finally, nearly 5 years after it's release on PC, I've got some hardware that can play it properly. 🙂

Multiplayer Halo is just plain fun, IMHO, and it's impressive how many servers are running. I resisted even giving the game a try, but dug it out a few months ago and installed it. I'm glad I did.

Is Halo 2 for the PC any good?

That would be a question for Marty O'Donnell.

that just tells me that you need to play more games.

nah, to be honest, the first great game a person plays usually finds itself being the greatest of all time. so i guess it depends on what generation you started playing in. to me, goldeneye on the n64 is the greatest when it comes to console fps. man, that game was awesome.

I think Halo is great purely because there is an option for doing a coop campaign. That is brilliant, and more games should have that option.

On the whole, however, Halo is nowhere near the top of my "best" list, and in my opinion anyone who thinks Halo is the best of anything just hasn't encountered the games that are actually better. Maybe it's at the top of any FPS list, but there are far, far more games that I'd rather be playing than Halo (Bioshock, for instance, but I put a lot of emphasis on good storyline, and Halo's storyline at best is mediocre). Ever play Fallout? How about Goldeneye on the N64? Resident Evil 4, aahhhh

Well, his armor is named after the Norse Mjolnir, so maybe that ties in? 😛

Halo would fall in to my top 10 but I would list all three in one group. Same thing with the original Doom series. I wouldn't count them as seperate line items for each game I would just say 'Doom Series'. Except Doom 3. Haven't played it actually.

I like the story line in Halo. I thought it worked well and it really gripped me. Somewhere around 1998 I started having a lot less time to play video games... Must be that whole turning 18 and getting a job thing... So a game has to grip me within the first hour or so. Half-Life failed to do so but Halo did, along with a handful of other games.

So don't be a hater. Just because you think a game sucks doesn't mean that it actually does, it just does to you 😉.

I'm not a "Halo hater", but I don't really understand people who refer to it as the best game(s) they've ever played. They're decent, but not THAT great. Too slow paced for my liking.

If you go by the books,( which I recommend you read since you dig the games ) the game play movements of the Master Chief are very slow. The armor actually improves strength and speed tremendously. And that is on top of having undergone experimental augmentation surgeries that left many of the candidates from the Spartan program, either dead or permanently and severely damaged. One of the girls from the program was supposed to be so fast that she was almost a blur when moving at maximum speed.

The armor is so powerful that if a normal human attempted to use it, all of the tendons and ligament would be ripped apart, and even bones would break and shatter. Only the Spartans super-human capabilities, including the faster neurological interfacing, allowed them to learn to use the armor, without tearing themselves apart in the process.

The MC should be able to jump much higher, run and move much faster, and when he hits an unshielded enemy, the damage should be even greater than what is reflected in easy mode.

Some of it has a very American Indian sound too, particularly the first soundtrack. Don't forget all the peoples of earth and its colonies, are fighting against the extinction promised by the Covenant's holy crusade. I think the idea was to incorporate some of the essence of various cultures battle hymns, if you will.

It's very, very good, but certainly not the best ever. That's Link to the Past or Chrono Trigger.

the saddest part about the Halo series is that Halo 1 > Halo 2 > Halo 3.

i still enjoy the series but part 3 is hard (ie. not really fun, not hard as in difficult) for me to play now a days.
