Depleted uranium is not particularly radioactive, and its use has been fairly limited, given that the only DU munitions that are fielded in the ME are the A10 cannon rounds, and the M1 Abrams anti-tank kinetic penetrator. The penetrators haven't been used much (no need), so that only leaves the A10... and while those munitions have been used often, the sheer amount of radiation is VERY limited. Those pictures provide no proof of anything... but like the pictures shown by the anti-abortion crowd, they are of the "this is gross, so I am right" variety. These congenital malformations happen with some frequency regardless of any exogenous radiation, and I have yet to see concrete figures about DU ammunition being the cause of statistically significant (and large) genetic defects.

It isn't limited to the internet. And to state it more accurately, most people will believe anything that reinforces their current beliefs.
