So I just sold a high value professional model video card for 3D modelling and the like. Ebay sent me the "Your item sold" email, and I immediately clicked on the "Print shipping label" button because I like to ship them out the same day.

No problems, off to the post office I go.

Checking back through the next day, and voila, the shipping information on the ebay purchase page has COMPLETELY CHANGED. I'm now supposed to be shipping to a different street address, and a name that sounds like it was pulled straight out of the Russian mob.

Holy shit. Did I just ship this to the wrong place? 45 minutes of checking using my computer and then I get a revelation - check my phone! It still has the original web page and hasn't been reloaded, and has proof that the first address ebay sent me was NOT the one they're sending me now.

A call to Ebay customer service to Habi.... I mean "Alex" muddied the water a bit more. It turns out that a buyer can have one address on their 'ebay' account, but if they pay with paypal that can have a different address, and it will override the first. It just so happens that I printed out the address before their 'system' could interface with paypal to change the address.

So now I'm sitting here wondering if the Russian Mob is going to send a hitman to Detroit to get me because I sent their expensive video card to a floral decoration shop. Holy CRAP. Will they take my firstborn as payment?

Always send to the PayPal address with delivery confirmation and insurance.

"Alex" confirmed I did nothing wrong. Ebay did indeed provide me both addresses. So I've got his name and ID# and the time of the call with him assuring me that Ebay holds all responsibility if the buyer doesn't get the stuff.

Lot of good that does me when my wife gets kidnapped and sent to Russia as a prostitute.

No reason to worry about the mafia coming after you. You didn't send the item to the paypal address, so the person could say they never received it and keep the item and get a full refund with shipping.

This is the reason my wife is not selling on "ebay" any more but has found (Facebook auctions local) and is doing pretty good at it too...

I'm done selling on Ebay. Gave them a couple paragraphs of why they're terrible for sellers nowadays. Probably was a waste of time but I felt better afterwards.

Is this the plot to Taken 3?
