My practical answer is, maybe it was a monitor vendor's booth, and their FreeSync monitor was already on the market, but the G-Sync one was still being developed, so they used a stand-in to "simulate" the product.

Not like some companies haven't done that in the past... ahem (wood screws).

Apparently in the asian market the Y27G is Gsync, and Y27GA is Freesync
