After much forum searching, and listening to (reading) the lamentations of many about the woes of WIN 8, This evening I bit the bullet and put the WIN8 Pro 64 DVD in my drive. About 15 to 20 minutes later I was a windows 8 user and back to my desktop with the photo of a red, white and blue MIG 29 demo /show craft.. When windows folks send me the e-mail with the license for the windows media player (for free) I will be hard pressed to know I've upgraded to a new and contentious operating system. I went from WIN 7 Home premium directly into win 8 pro and nothing noteworthy happened.
Am I to believe that the folks with all the problems haven't assured themselves that the computer was properly set up to accept a new operating system ? Or what could be the problem? You put the DVD in click on run setup and away you go. I did run the win8 upgrade assistant program a few times and made sure that whatever it was unhappy with I corrected. Absolutely no problem whatsoever. It just loaded and setup.
