That top-secret video enhancing software

I'm sure you're familiar with how they have a camera pointed at a car, then they need to get the license plate, but the car is so far away that when they zoom in the license plate is composed of no more than a dozen pixels, and then guy #2 says to guy #1 "enchance it", then guy #1 enhances it so that it not only reveals the license plate number but also the rust and bugs and everything on that license plate.

Imagine the compression ratios we could achieve if that software went public. We could Torrent HDTV House episodes at 20MB each. 😱

Its a TV Show right? Just like all other scripted dramas its "the willful suspension of disbelief" so the "software" is most likely non existant 😛

yea.. like if it was a video of a car's license plate, they could tell what the numbers were by the changes in pixels from frame to frame and stuff

This program will enchance images.

As for the video enchancing SW, it's called Visar

Neither program does what the TV shows protray, but it will help clean up an image a little bit.

I love the CSI one where they figure out who pushed someone into the way of a car by looking at a picture taken from a camera phone..or just a regular camera....THROUGH the reflection in someones eye.

I like the 'enhance' technology where if there's something in blocking whatever the cops want to see, they can just 3d 'enhance' it and see behind the object.
