Yes. I HATE geese. I find them to be a plague upon the land and whenever they do not promptly move out of the way of my vehicle, they are given a prompt execution.

I used to swerve to hit them, until I found I could be arrested for cruelty to animals if I TRY to hit them. Now I just "ignore" them and if they get hit... well... they have wings and could have flown away...

Why would I want to do such a thing? I am more likely to crash into another car trying to AVOID running over a poor little creature that has lost its way.

Same - although I wouldn't endanger other humans to save an animal, but I have never ran over another creature because I have always been able to slow down or swerve enough to miss (including dogs, some with and some without collars).

I haven't seen a turtle in the road, but I have seen one or two right next to the road or just starting to creep onto the road from the edge.

I had to ask because I ran across this article:
http://bigstory.ap.org/article/college-students-turtle-project-takes-dark-twist

I hate humanity more often than not.

I stop and move the turtles (and gila monsters and snakes) off the road.

As far as the linked story goes, folks who liked turtles used to put nail balls inside turtle shells and leave them on the side of the road in response to said jerks. I can't condone doing so but I certainly understand the urge.

I'd probably do the same thing if the opportunity presented itself, especially after that article called attention to the issue.

(ha! beat your ninja edit, not that it changed anything)

Depends on how big the turtle is. I wouldn't run one over just because but I won't pass up an opportunity to go up on two wheels like Knight Rider. :D Ski mode, bitches!

It is ok, global warming is the result of excess turtles.

It is turtles all the way down, and heat rises. Therefore, if you squish a turtle the Earth will be lowered, mitigating global warming.

There's no turtles on the road around here, just squirrels and deer. I try not to hit the deer.

If there isn't anyone behind me and the road isn't huge I usually pull over, pick up the turtle, and move it to the side it is trying to get to. I don't know why anyone would intentionally run over an animal on the road.

Those things weigh a good 20lbs. That would do quite a bit of damage to your car I would think.

Asshats would do such a thing. ^_^

Only have rats, squirrels, and pigeons around here.

I don't aim, but I sure don't make any attempts to avoid squishing the vile creatures.

I've got no argument with turtles.

I don't see them on the roads much. Once in particular though was near to home, also near a lake. I got out to help him off the road, to find a safer warm spot to lie.
This one was a snapping turtle though, and he was not too pleased about being hurried away from his warm, sunny, gray rock. I carried him, all pissed off and mouth gaping threateningly, into the grass a distance from the road.

the only turtles on the roads around here are snapping turtles. They have a habit of migrating.

I would never hit one though.

have some sympathy for nature's D student. ;)

Squirrels are adorable, asshole. Try to avoid them when it's safe to do so. They can't help if they're indecisive. :colbert:

I do the same. The night before Thanksgiving I actually saw a confused rabbit that was in the road and was going to get hit so I circled back and got him into the woods on the side of the road.

On average I see about 10 rabbits for every 2 miles where I drive to work. I always honk the horn but I never swerve, I will slow down, but its a good habit to stay in your lane.

Turtles are cold blooded :^D

I stop and move animals out of the road when I can. I've also stopped to finish off animals that were hit, and irrevocably broken.
