Ever notice how conservatives cling to their "slippery slope" scare tactics? During the marriage equality fight, conservatives pushed the idea that if two men were allowed to legally marry that would lead to a slippery slope. Men allowed to adopt children, same sex couples wanting extra rights, the country gone amuck. We heard the same slippery slope scare tactics during the women's lib movement. If you allow women equal rights then next women will want equal pay and equal protections and the right to vote and the right to work and the rights to manage their own finances. And thus conservatives used their slippery slope arguments to fight against women's quest for equality. Time after time throughout history, whenever change was desired and long past due, the conservatives would bring out their slippery slope arguments to fight against the cause, whatever the cause. Well... now we have an opportunity for liberals and minorities to use that same "slippery slope" argument against what Donald Trump and his conservatives. Donald Trump wants to protect statues and monuments that are offensive to minorities. Donald Trump conservatives claim the Confederate Flag is our history and should be protected. So, here is the reply using the same "slippery slope" argument. IF... Confederate flags are allowed to fly and IF racist and offensive statues and icons are allowed to stand then that slippery slope would lead us into cops killing blacks, racist groups allowed to march in the streets carrying banners praising Adolf Hitler and praising the KKK. IF racist monuments are allowed to exist, this would allow minorities to be treated inferior and reduced to second class citizens. So there, Donald Trump, is the true slippery slope argument. Racist icons leading to violence against America's minorities, racist icons enabling violence against America's minorities, racist icons provoking our law enforcement to kill first and ask questions later. If ever we had the blatant example of a slippery slope, the same slippery slope conservatives have used against progress for decades, that slippery slope of racism and bigotry is indeed the slippery slope of all slippery slopes. Allowing Confederate monuments to stand and racist ideology to flourish is the slippery slope to more violence. Yes America, we do have a slippery slope within our mists, a slippery slope where bigoted institutions from decades past are allowed to exist within todays America resulting in cops murdering, minorities jailed, minorities beaten and hung. The slippery slope of racism is when racism is allowed to continue on and on, and when a president himself uses his office to pave the way for that slippery slope to continue. If conservatives warn that slippery slopes lead to more of the same, then go ahead Trump conservatives and stop this slippery slope.
