first the backplate is damn near glued on, i doubt its ever coming off. and it stuck into the solder points for some components, so i had to pry it up and cut off the points to make sure they wouldn't short. hope i didn't scratch the board too badly.

next when i was putting the clips down it slid around all over the place. if not for that big slug on the processor it would have cracked, i guarantee.

maybe it would have been easier to attach the scythe to the bracket and then just screw the bracket down.

are all the athlon designs this crappy nowadays? my old socket A heatsink sure was easy.

The way I do it is to lower the Ninja into place, then with a thumb on each of two clips at opposite corners, I press down until it clicks. Then do the same for the other two clips. This hopefully keeps the base of the Ninja parallel to the surface of the CPU.

i helped a friend stick his ninja on and its a lil bit difficult to do, i think mainly more because of the sheer size of it and the sharp fins, but its worth it once you get it on. Just take it slow...

1. Ninjas are mammals.

2. Ninjas fight ALL the time.

3. The purpose of the ninja is to flip out and kill people.

big time agreement here...
I had no backplate issues - just swapped out the screws to allow the plastic bracket to fit.
...but putting this HS on with one pair of hands is really hard. It certainly makes a mockery of the meticulous thermal paste spread beneath it...I bet its smeared all the way to one side.
in summary - ninja installation is 2 person job

wow...that sounds almost like installing my NB cooler. but at least that thing was small and light...guess it was a good idea to buy a simple cooler after all.
