That new Shader 2.0 thing

So I was walking down the hallway at school today and overheard the following:

"Yeah, I'm into video editing and CAD stuff so I decided I'd better get a video card. It's an ATI 70-something..."

"7500?"

"Yeah, a 7500. It's not the top of the line, but I hear it's pretty good."

"Yeah, ATI's got that new Pixel Shader 2.0 thing, whatever that means."

"I heard Nvidia got bought out by some crappy company too....."

😕

First of all... Pixel Shader 2.0 is not even close to new. 3.0 was introduced with the 6800 chipset and ATI has yet to make a card that supports it (I think). Although it really doesn't do much... just adds some eye candy in Far Cry.

And yeah, slap those you overheard.
