that new car smell

I have a decent '99 35th Anniversary edition Mustang. 1 problem. It is a little stale in there. I am not a smoker or anything but I need some time of air freshner in there. But I want that new car smell back. Is that possible? I don't want some stupid "herbal" sh*t or vanilla... yuck...

You can buy deordorizers in "new car smell" scent. Do they work? Yeah but only for the first day because they're potent enough.

Also, you might be able to get a car wash to give you that new car stink again...may need to pay premium bucks to have it done, though.

If you have a "miracle car wash" or any other car wash that cleans the inside of your car, they actually have the choice of "new car smell" that they use for a car freshner.

I use Febreeze.It is a stupid name but it actually works.

I'm sure a local auto supply store will carry something that will do what you want. I know there is a way to get it back since some local car washes have that as an option when they clean your car...

I dont think you can ever totally get it back, its the new plastic, fresh chemical treatment/paint stink that makes that wondeful, but probably carcinogenic smell I usually use some orange stuff as a substitute. If you have a real stink of some sort then try febreeze.

You should go down to Bath and Body Works at your local mall, and purchase the Scent Jelly Jar ($5.50). They're really strong, and smell good.. My personal favorite is Freesia. Or, I get Country Apple.. Give it a try!!!

Remove the source of the odor first! Make sure there are no leaks in the windows or trunk. Fix the leaks and thoroughly dry any damp areas. Dry out the air vents as mentioned in that link. Then use the "air freshener" chemical you prefer in the air inlet in the cowl just below the windshield.

You might want to put ssome ArmourAll. That usually smells like a new car to me.

I tried those new car smell fragrances. They smell ok, but they are nowhere close the smell of a new car.

I don't think it's possible to reproduce the smell.

I remember reading this somewhere.

The new car smell comes from the plastic/rubber compound/material that comprises a large amount of your interior and dash. It is the &quot;maturation&quot; of that material that releases the new car smell. Unfortunately, once you get to a certain point it's all over and you probably can't get it back.
