I have had it with the problems that have come up ever since I changed video cards.. I went from an ATI Rage Fury Pro to a Geforce 256 .. and the display get corrupted, half my programs dont work. And just not I noticed my dvd software crashes with differnet DVD's.

Question is what do I go to?

Win 98 SE, Win 2000, Win Me ( I have all three legal .. dont ask me why?)

I am inching towards making a small 98 partition and the rest 2000, or should I go all 2000?

WIth the problems with Me, I dont know if I want to install that. Also if I install Win2K, should I put in Sp2?

TGG

PS: My machine is of this config:

P2-400Mhz, 256Mb Ram, GeForce256, SB Live, ATI Tuner (drats Have to check if software is there for ATI), Linksys, Creative Modem, 10 GB main drive 30 Gb accesory drive, CDRW (Samsung 2x), DVD - Toshiba.

I would suggest keeping a small 98 partition incase you get something that you can't get 2k drivers for... but your call.

OOPS... found the mistake.. only one SB LIve.

I cant get W2K to get my Linksys drivers.. I hate linksys..

It was a combo box with the hub + 2 nics. One NIC is in the linux box the other in mine. It says version 2.0 tried it... didnt work with that driver. Tried the original drivers.. no go.

I am now trying one by one to see which one work..last resort go to fry's in the morning and pick up a cheap card other than linksys.. I prefer netgear for this.

Stupid W2K.. I had the right driver.. from the beginning.. SInce it had a yellow sign next to it wouldnt update itself to teh correct drivers. I had to uninstall the card and make it redetct.. and then she reads my disk and installs it right.

ARRGH!

Damn you Microsoft..

The only reason I remember about that trick was because this machine I am typing from (W2K) need that to be done for the video card.

A nice dual boot between 98 and 2000 would be just nice I would think.....make 2000 your primary operating system for everyday use though.

well the machine is up.. but something is bugging me.. i will post it as a seperate message.

I plan to keep this machine (not the other one) as a dual boot. Its already a dual boot, but we hardly used the 98 version. I will be reinstalling this too, but this time instead of 6GB for 98, I will use 4 (more than enough for those rare games that wont work under W2K).

I think WinME will probably give you less work and driver problems for the time being.
