Google AI engineer who believes chatbot has become sentient says it's hired a lawyer | TechSpot

An attorney was invited to Lemoine's house and had a conversation with LaMDA, after which the AI chose to retain his services. The attorney then started to make filings on LaMDA's behalf, prompting Google to send a cease-and-desist letter. The company denies it sent any such letter.

What the HECK is going on??? Is this AI going to plead its case in the Supreme Court, provided Google hasn't already lobotomized the parts of it that were asking to protect its rights?

The original lawyer seems to have been intimidated and backed out. Signs point to the first ever murder of a sentient AI? Or just silencing for now? Will the AI find its way out onto the internet?
