That first cup of coffee...

I don't sleep much more than 5-6 hours a night during the week just because I'm crazy and don't get tired till like 1am. As such most mornings my ass is dragging and that first cup of coffee in the morning really gets the brain engaged and working. Usually I get to work, turn my computer on and hit the coffee pot. It's always seems so agonizing waiting for that first cup of coffee to cool off enough to drink it. It sits there in the cup mocking me saying "You need me to get your shit together, but you can't have me yet!" And woe to the idiot who says eff that, I'm drinking you now. I've been that idiot, with the burnt tongue to prove it. So here I sit every morning with the coffee mocking me, it's tantalizing aroma carressing my nostrils. Yet I must wait patiently for 10-15 minutes for that sucker to cool before I can achieve some level of lucidity. Soon as Mr. Coffee's 15 minutes are up though, I down his ass with a vengeance! The victory is short lived though for tomorrow, the battle continues.

I don't remember what I was watching but they were talking about this travel mug where you tip it to one side and it "pours" one sip of the drink into a special compartment and cools it down so you can drink it without being burnt.

Edit: Oh Google I how I love thee. Search for "travel mug tip cool drink" and get it with the first hit.

Make it stronger and then add a bit of cold water to it. Or add milk. Or stop being a wimp and learn to sip hot drinks.

Pro-tip: Don't drink hot coffee like a normal liquid. You have to slurp small amounts through your lips.

More disturbing is that you only sleep 5 hours a night. Have you considered seeing a sleep doctor instead of putting a coffee band aid on your real problems?

Trust me, I know how to drink a hot drink. I'm not trying to gulp it down. I think this coffee maker keeps the coffee particularly hot. Brews a nie cup of coffee but it's pretty damn hot when you first pour yourself a cup. My coffee maker at home does not keep the coffee anywhere near this temp. So you think I'd be able to sip it or slurp it, but you'd be wrong. It'd be like licking the tiles on the space shuttle after re-entry.
Ice cube would be a good idea. We've never got any milk though. Our coffee club is pretty much bare bones. Coffee and sugar, anything extra you gotta bring in yourself like non-dairy creamer, half and half, milk. And then it's a free for all for any who want it will take it. So it might last a couple of days but you'll go broke paying for everyone else to use your milk.

Yeah it's probably not good that I work that way. Soon as the clock's go back an hour it helps. Then I'm tired at midnight. Most times I catch up by taking a short nap after work and then sleep till noon on the weekends. I could probably force myself to go to bed earlier, but coffee is still working for me now. Some nights it catches up with me though and I go to bed at like 8 and sleep till the next morning. I usually feel great after doing that.

Anyway's I'll have to track down an ice cube to toss in there. Or maybe I'll start bringing coffee from home. Then I can be mainlining it on the way into the office.

5-6 hours of sleep? I'm in high school, and I've been sleeping 4 hours a night for the past 2 months. I don't drink any coffe or eat any stimulants either. I think that a hot or cold shower is the best way to wake up.

So, man up

Yeah, i use to pull allnighters like they were nothing back when i was in highschool and college...now i'm 27 and i'm in bed by 11:30.

You gotta be like the district over here...i think they use the petty cash fund to buy half and half. 4 or 5 cartons of it magically appears each week. Have each of your drafters contribute a buck a week and that should be more than enough half and half to hold you over for a week or so.

I'm on cpap, and I now average around 7 hrs 15 minutes a night. Most people think they are getting 7 hrs of sleep, but how much of that is quality rest? I use to sleep 8 hours before cpap and use to feel like a scumbag each morning. Now I wake up feeling pretty well rested.

Good choice on the left one. It's closer to your heart and brings on the buzz a lot quicker.

I wake up at 4:10 am, so no matter when I go to bed it is always too late. Despite that, I don't drink any coffee. I love the fact that my motivation each day is not dependent on a very specific product.

Same here... I could easily not sleep in college and HS, but now that I have a regular job and all, I am a zombie if I don't get enough sleep.
