Do what I did when I had PVC projects on the itinerary - buy a miter saw.

They're useful to have anyway.

That one can probably do 1" SCH40 PVC tops.

What you want is a ratchet cutter like this:

Keep your fingers away from the blade!

You can also use a conventional pipe cutter and a hacksaw if you need to. Sawing requires more post cut prep however.
