That darn front Coolermaster filter!

Filters are great since they keep dust out, but they're a chore to clean, at least on my case. There are 4 screws I need to remove in order to get the front grill and its captive filter off the case. Blowing with compressed air doesn't seem to get all of it out, nor does water. I have to remove the filter from the grill.

This isn't particularly difficult, but I hear the tabs that retain the filter can eventually break off after removing the filter so many times. I've done it 5-6 times since I got my case last year. There is no apparent metal fatigue, but I don't want to start popping tabs off like it's going out of style.

Is there an easier way to do this?

I have the 710, huge pain in the rear to get to the foam filter.

so I took the upper and lower screws out of the right side of the front that covers it. Can just swing it open and get to the mesh thing now. Yeah 4 of the tabs have already broke for me, the small ones though not the larger ones. Doubt they'll last much longer though. These filters are so badly designed IMO, should be some simple plastic holder that you can pull out the top/bottom of the fronting.

A little off track but since I've added a Ionizer Air Cleaner to my room I've noticed an extreme difference in the amount of dust my Puter collects.

Davegod, I guess you just bend the metal now? I would imagine you're now putting heavy stress on the tabs that insert into the case now in addition to the tabs holding the filter in.

I'm not really looking into getting an air cleaner, as the cheap ones make noise and the expensive ones are well... expensive!

nah, must be quite different design of the way the fronting is put on I guess. With the 710 the lower part of the fronting is normally held on by 3 (vertical) screws plus a rod which is the lower half of the rod that hinges the drive bay door. Take the 2 screws out of one side lets the bottom fronting swing out pretty much like the top-half drive bay door. Nothing is being bent, though I wouldnt be too surprised if the screw left in gets threaded eventually.

$350, and yes, it does. It's not as easy to clean as the infomercial makes it out to be, but you don't acually have to touch the rods with your hands, so still great.

Keep that ionizer away from anything rubber. Elastic in clothes and speaker surrounds will die a quick death in the constant presence of ozone.

Yep and so can I with mine(s) as it has 3 Fan speeds and I just leave it @ low...less noise then a quality Case Fan and the Germicide feature has an on off switch too as well as a 2-4-8 hr timer on the Unit

Pretty soon I'll have to move over to SPCR, I think. A panaflow L1a @5v I'm beginning to be able to hear from 6-ft away . I can believe 99% of people will never hear it, though.
