That cave story

you guys remember that cave story where the guys go into this cave and weird stuff happens? several people said that new movie The Descent, was pretty much a rip off of it.

Well, I think I may have found the original story or maybe one that pre-dates all these other ones.

The one I found is called The Valley of the Lost. It was written by Robert E. Howard back around the 1920s or 30s. I read it yesterday. Its not the exact same story but i could see this being where or how they got the idea.

you people need to stop believing what everyone is saying and dig into it yourself.... The Cave is actually a ripoff of The Descent. How can I say that? Um, by the fact that The Descent was released first in Europe, and about a month later The Cave came out.
and meanwhile, while the premise is similar, I have many great opinions regarding The Descent, versus we all know the badness that was The Cave.

He's not talking about a movie. He's talking about a "famous" story that circulated the internet years back. Hence the title of the thread being 'that cave story' NOT that cave movie.

Oh and pontifex, you're not the only one who noticed similarities.

Whenever I read Ted's cave story I think of that book Through the Hidden Door. Did anyone read that in grade school?

Yea, I was dissapointed by that cave story. I read pages and pages on nonsense only to discover that nothing happens.

That's pretty lame. Better left alone I'd imagine.

the guys found a book by a tree with a skeleton. the book was like a diary or something and it told how the dead guy was a protector of the cave because something evil was inside it. the ghost banished the creature back ino the cave and disappeared.
