Anyone actually get it and confirm that it works?

I ordered mine last Tuesday and it still claims to be "In Production." What are they building it from scratch?

I'm wondering if I'm ever going to see it.

[EDIT]:

Apparently I called customer service and they admitted that it was a gross pricing error, and that they were honoring everyone's orders, but was put on backorder.

That's cool that they're honoring them. The price should have been $250, i bought it for the $142 price. Works for me :)

The real purpose of these drives is the speed, not the capacity. Even if it were only 40 GB I still would have ordered it.

I have 2 100GB ATA100 Western Digital drives from back when Sams Club was selling them for $219 - $100MIR = $119.

I failed to jump in on the deal. However, it looks like a lot of AnandTecher's were able to benefit from the Hot Deal. :)

Can someone explain why you lose space when you format? Or do manufacturers just lie about the true size?

I know there was a recent post about why formatted HD space is less then advertised. Just do some searching and you can find it

I should have mine in a day or two, but I don't have a tracking number.

:(

My order shows shipped on the 23rd though, with delivery estimated by the 30th.

The guy gave me like a 10 minute explanation of what happened as if I didn't understand what a pricing error was.

"You see, sir, it's kind of like if Dell's stock was selling at 25 cents... the demand rises extremely fast"

When harddrive manufacturers say their drive is 120GB, they use for formula 1MB = 1000 bytes...

While in reality 1MB = 1024 bytes...

So if you do 120 GB x 1000 x 1000 / 1024 / 1024 = 114 GB...

Then partition information also takes up some space...
