Thanksgiving Traffic When to Go?

Okay I need to go from SD to Glendale (northern LA) and I'm planning on going at around 10a. Hopefully this isn't a bad idea. Then, at 1p I plan on going through the Grapevine to Bakersfield from LA. You think I'll hit some major traffic on Thursday morning? Then coming back, should I avoid Sunday all together and leave Saturday night? I really, really don't want to hit much traffic, last time it took me about 6 hours to go 200 miles and I'm not going to go through that junk again (left Wednesday afternoon).
 
Holiday traffic is bad, which I why I no longer leave town on holiday's. It's not worth the hassle and frustration.

I'd leave earlier if I were you.
