Thanksgiving traditions?

Many of us have holiday traditions. For my side of the family, we used to go to church Christmas Eve and then after we got home, we would go to our neighbors down the street and have crackers and cheese ball and my parents would have wine. Now that all my sisters are grown, they graze all Christmas eve at my parents house after church on Shrimp, Rumaki, chex mix, puppy chow, pickles wrapped in cream cheese and ham, and other finger foods and watch a movie.

On my wife's side of the family, they grind wheat to make monkey bread (sticky pull aparts), and then also have chili on Christmas Eve. Since I've joined their family, we also have leftover chili with scrambled eggs on Christmas morning.

At my house on Thanksgiving, we are starting a new tradition of going in the hot tub on Black Friday morning while my wife is out shopping, and, after simmering for 15-30 minutes, making poached eggs and ham with hollandaise sauce. This will be a guy thing, just my 3 boys and I.

When I was living back in California near the family, we always had Thanksgiving the following Friday or Saturday. My Mom was a nurse, and she always decided to work on the big holidays for the extra money. Then my sisters ended up being nurses too, so they ended up doing the same thing, I'd have to drive all over southern california if each one wanted to have a dinner on whichever day they decided was their Thanksgiving. It drove me crazy sometimes.

It is good. Same thing applies to onion wraps. A thin slice of ham, cream cheese and a green onion.

I make pinwheels using that combination, except with prosciutto or salami. I'll roll it and slice it to make spiral shapes:

If I happen to be in FL for the holiday(s) it's usually standard for my parents, my brother, his wife and son, my wife and our son to all to to my uncles house and have a big family meal with everyone who still lives in the area.

My wife and I moved out of state about 6 years ago though so some holidays it's just us and some times everyone comes up here and we have 11 people staying in a 4 bedroom, 2 bath house for a week straight.

This Thanksgiving it'll just be my wife and son and my brother-in-law and his gf.

For the Christmas/New Years stretch it'll again be my in-laws, my parents, my brother and his son and wife. A very full house.

But we all have a good time and lots of laughs and memories.

That's exactly what we have, I just didn't 'splain it well enough. We dont use goose or duck livers with our rumaki either, just water chestnuts, bacon, and lots of sauce they are cooked in.

Invite as many family and friends as possible, so we can spend all of our time in the kitchen preparing and cleaning up after the meal. All this so we don't have to speak to our relatives.

I work my tail off so hundreds of other people can enjoy their Thanksgiving then, I go home and, drink til I stop hurting. It's a better tradition than it sounds.

Fair enough, I hate pickles and dislike cream cheese a fair bit so that really is what got me.

Our only tradition is making stuffed clams for lunch, they are soo good.
