As per your advice, I reset the HCF on my processor and now the bios temperature reading is normal again. I just hope I didn't do any permanent damage to the chip. As far as I can tell, my system is still running fine. I tried out a few of the more demanding programs and games I have and they all played with no problems that I noticed. Is there any way to tell if I damaged the chip in any way?

Thanks for the advice,

Joe Wells

Yeah, thanks Ulysses! :D

Why isn't he elite yet?? :p

Glad your problem is solved btw, Joe ;)

I don't know if there's any way to tell if there's damage, but I don't think there is... I ran my K6-2 (2.2v) at 2.9v for a bit and thought I fried it, but didn't... also ran it at 450MHz (350 default) which was unstable in games, yet it is still perfectly stable from 350 to 412.5..

oh well..
