Hi team,
A couple weeks ago, I posted this thread about cooling in my Lian Li PCV351:
http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2110456
I ended up following a little bit of everyone's advice. First I replaced the stock HSF with a Scythe Big Shuriken, which made a dramatic difference in noise levels and CPU temps.
Next, I replaced my Noctua ULN fans with two Scythe GTs (1150rpm model), which drastically improved my airflow. Unfortunately, one of the GTs I got made an annoying, variable noise. Rather than RMA it (which would have cost more money than the fan is worth), I put one of the Noctuas back in on the side of the case where it blows at the video card and left the GT (the better working one) blowing at the CPU.
The end result of all this is that I've got a reasonably quiet SFF case (the good GT at 1150 rpm is still too noisy to be considered anywhere near silent) which idles as low as 29 C and levels out at 48 after two hours of Prime. This on a Phenom II BE 555 overclocked to 3600MHz.
I'm quite pleased with all this. Couldn't have done it without the advice of people on this forum... so thank you!
