Dublin was AMAZING.

Not only was the city excellent, but the countryside (Wicklow Mountains) was gorgeous as well.

The one element that made it perfect though was the people. Never in my life have i actually felt more welcomed to a country than I did in Ireland. Everywhere we went people would strike up a conversation with us, everyone we met was amazingly nice and friendly.

Thanks to those who recommended Dublin. I liked it so much i hope to go back before i leave for the states next month.

They are both great. Tough decision, but I think you will get more out of Dublin, simply because Edinburgh is very much like the rest of the UK, but with a Scottish accent (and a fecking nice castle). Dublin on the other hand has the Liffe, Guiness factory tour, great pubs, Temple Bar, etc.

My mate runs a discount hotel booking site in Dublin. Give it a try: www.centralr.com

I had a special deal with him when I went there for business and got a two level apartment at the Mespil hotel for 99 euros a night. It had two bedrooms, three bathrooms a massive living room and kitchen and a balcony. Even an office area with fax and broadband. :Q

I prefer Irish Celtic music to Scotish Celtic (though both are good) so knowing next to nothing else about either city I'd have to go with Dublin.

I have been to Edinburgh many times... it is a gorgeous place. I love Scotland. I have never been to Ireland, so I would pick Dublin.

I've been to both, and if you can't get up into the highlands of scotland when in edinburgh, then definitely go to dublin.

Cant talk about Dublin, but Edinburgh is really cool.

And if you visit and dont see the castle I shall call you a fruitcake everyday of your life.

Well I can say loads of more stuff in regards to the irish people but Dublin is still nice. As people pointed out. We have Liffey, temple bar, loads of pubs, Guinness Factory and others.

If you go to dublin make sure you also take a tour up to Wicklow Mountains, It costs about 16 Euro (around $20) and is a whole day tour. Its a wonderfull trip and you'll see lots of the country side (where Ireland REALLY shines)

added the pic from Wicklow. Crappy weather, but still a beautiful place.
