Here's the Deal, Building a Video editing system so I am using there (the capture card manufacture) refrence to build it, by using the parts they suggest, meaning the motherboard they have tested and say it will work correctly with it... so out of these motherboards which one would you say? I'm lookign to put a 1.6 northwood in it....

Price is not a problem..... As long as the motherboard is under 200$ all things are good. We are looking for Stability, reliability and the motherboard that will go the longest when it comes to upgradeing. Must have rdram....... thanks!

Any i845 board does not go with RDRAM. The i845 chipset supports SDR or DDR SDRAM only, which eliminates all boards from your list except the Intel D850GB. In addition, the Intel D850GB is a Socket 423 board, which means it is incompatible with the Northwood, leaving you a list with nothing on it.

As for RDRAM boards, if you are going to be into overclocking, then there are only 2 good choices: the ASUS P4T-E and the Abit TH7-II.

try Intel's D850MD or D850MV motherboards.both support RDRAM but if you want to overclock you cant with these..
for overclockin go with asus

intel boards are also notorious for being the least upgradeable. I'd go with Asus. Almost all boards should work with that hardware.

The generalizations within that article (and your Intel remark) lack substance and any supporting evidence!

I have an Intel D850MVL together with a P4 2.0A and 1GB of PC800 that I've been using (very satisfactorily) for image and video editing. I highly recommend Intel's 'MV' series for ultimate stability (but admittedly, not for OC'ing) in i850/478 boards. If OC'ing is lepper boy's thing, then Andy's recommedations are the way to go. And if lepper boy fancies RAID (or >4 IDE/ATAPI devices), then the Abit TH7II-R would be his best choice. Otherwise, any of Intel's MV's are a very good choice.

Abit TH7II+Samsung/Corsiar RDRAM will beat any DDR setup even if the DDR setup is clocked higher.

Thanks so far........ Overclocking is not going to be done..... But the system must work with the Matrox rt2500 card. which is very picky as to how it works.. i'm going to start a new thread the matrox site has a little program that you can run on an i850 chipset to see if the mother board would be compatible or not.. thanks.
