Thanks Lowe's for the 10% off.

Wanted to buy this Generac generator at Lowes for $649 but it wasn't in my local store. Called customer service to see if they would ship from the store 25 minutes away. "Nope but we'll give you 10% off for your gas." $65 will cover the gas and dinner at Carrabba's. Win, win.

You can bet I'll try this again on the next pricey item.

I love companies who do little things like this.

God knows they won't miss the $65 but I bet you will look at Lowes the next time you need something?

Good for them!

I've had some crappy service from them at the local store. Bad enough to email a complaint. They actually called me to apologize. I did email them the next time service was great.

HD is worse. Can't ever find any help.

Problem with in-store service is that minimum wage employees just are not motivated.

Really?

I was just there an hour ago and got helped no problem. I wandered around looking for double sided outdoor tape and got bored so I went to check out the Christmas stuff. Some guy asked if I needed help, I told him what I needed, he led me to it. Though he did ask what I was going to use it for and I told him it was classified

I actually prefer for employees not to approach me and ask if I need help.

I generally don't want any.

However, when I can't find somebody when I do need help, that's annoying, and this has been my experience at Home Depot.

They throw the 10% around like its no big deal, not that I can complaining but its sometimes strange. I bought some custom bamboo shades and the lady, even without asking says - yes, I know they are very expensive so I will gibe you 10% off, and hour later when it turned out that i needed 14 of them, she says hey! I can now give you 20% off (some type of contractor discount) all without asking. As I had just moved I received 10% off coupon from USPS, I used that at checkout for another 10%, nobody cared...

Next went to buy a dishwasher, the one that I wanted, they did not have on display.... I was debating buying that or one that was on display, and again they sales person offered 10% discount, out of no good reason.. I was amazed...

I am now hooked with the 10%, every time I want to but something fairly big, I will go to ebay to buy 10% coupon...

Same here. That's why I wandered around first. Turns out outdoor, double sided tape is in the paint aisle.

Who would have thought of that?

don't think so, insulating (read: real foil duct tape) tape is usually in the HVAC section

could see other sections having their own specialty tapes as well, electrical tape etc
True. Those didn't come to mind. Thinking blue and gorilla tape.

You can normally just go to Slickdeals and get a 10% off coupon for Lowes that works for just about anything. The only difficult aspect of it is that you have to normally generate a few random numbers as they're one-time-use codes. One guy just made an excel formula that created them for you!

You can go to the post office and get change of address forms. They come in a packet with a ton of coupons including a 10% off coupon for Lowes.

Also, if you're buying tools, look for the Harbor Freight 20% off coupons. Most Lowes and Home Depots will accept them. You might have to talk to a few people at the store before you get an OK on the coupon.

I live in a town large enough to have a Lowes, Walmart, JC Penney, Atwoods, Walgreens, CVS, movie theater and about a dozen other big name stores and restaurants, but small enough that the farthest one is about 3.5 minutes away. Also, if they're super busy, that only means about a 4 minute wait in line, not 20. And I can always find help quickly in Lowes, although they are sometimes out of stock if a piece I'm looking for is uncommon that not many people buy

It feels like I'm cheating

Dinner at Carrabba's, isn't that more like a win lose?

What a snob.
