I've got 4 programs now that should keep me busy for a couple of days.
I'll nail it down yet.
Cheers and Thanks for the help.

I got this computer dumped on me yesterday and it's drivin' me NUTS.
K6-3+450
Gigabyte 5AX
WD200
TNT2 M64
SB Live
Win98se
The prob is that it will run for days with no probs then all of a sudden will throw errors up everywhere. I've run System File Checker and replaced quite a few files(no particular ones) and run the other tools with no outcome so I thought that it maybe the HHD so I downloaded WD's diagnostic tools but they tell me that the drive's alright.
Can anyone let me know where I can download any programs that test memory/cache integrity. I've also swapped out the IDE cables for ones that I know are OK.
Any help will be appreciated and thanks

Those errors sound like you may have bad RAM. I had a PC a while ago that was giving me fatal exception errors and all kinds of headaches. It took me a while to find out what it was exactly but after I replaved the RAM, I was fine ever since. That was also the last time I bought that cheap generic Ram. Guess I got what I paid for.

There may be some programs here at Tweakfiles that you can check to make sure if you ram is bad, but I'm not sure how well these programs work. Look in the Memory section.

Thanks Phobic9 I'll go and have a look but I have this computer before and swapped the ram and the suc OS at the time but it may have something to do with the Dimm slots or cache and I've got everything thing slowed down at the moment so it's behaving itself now and quietly crunchin' through another SETI unit.

A good link Phobic9 as I found 3 that may help so I bookmarked and will have a better look in the mornin'. Want am I talkin' about it's nearly 2:30am better hit the sack.
Thanks again.
