Hi Guys,

This is my first post, and I wanted to thank you all. I spent numerous hours here figuring out what upgrades I wanted to buy for my computer. Thank you all for the great wealth of information you've posted to the forums here. Just to let you know, this is what I ended up buying:

Chenbro Gaming Bomb case
Coolmax 500W 120mm PS
120mm and 92mm case fan
Abit AN7
45W 2500+ mobile Barton
Thermalright ALX-800
512MB Geil PC3200 Value ram

Which will be paired with existing 9700pro, and various drives.

Whole upgrade costs about $400 before shipping. Hope to get 12x200 out of it. :)

Coolmax 500W 120mm PS... horrible in my experiance...Spend the money for either a Forton 400/450 or seasonic super silencer 400 if noise is your primary concern..Mine went into auto shutdown when benchmarking and ruined a board.

I see a reviewer had the same problem. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-159-025&depa=0

Don't say we did'nt warn you.

The rest is great...I bow to your knowledge and geat value for only having 1 post.

Hi Zebo,

Yeah, the coolmax was a tough decision. Most of the newegg reviews for coolmax power supplies are pretty good, and the 500w doesn't have very many newegg reviews yet so I was hoping that specific reviewer just got a bad one. I guess we'l see how it goes. A lot of online reviews for other coolmax supplies show really nice and stable voltages though...

I knew even before I installed it it was crap. Note the mass (lack of) when you get it which is indicative of quality...visa vi Large caps, coils and massive HS. You'll see what I mean if you ever had a good PSU.

The paint job is beautiful though,

<sigh> well, I guess we'll see how it goes. I swear I read a review somewhere (probably for the 400 or 450 watt) that said it had a decent weight to it, but oh well. I've got a sparkle 300 or 350 watt here I can compare it to I guess. I suppose if it blows up I should at least be able to return to newegg.

Do you happen to know if coolmax makes their own, or is it just a relabeled other brand?

Post how your rig goes together! It looks like a nice one. Are you gonna overclock it?

Anyway, congrats and throw it together and ask questions when needed and enjoy it at stock for at least a month! Good luck to you and keep checking that tracking # newegg gives you! It's almost here!

Hi Guys,

Everything came in! :) I have to wait until tomorrow before I can put it together, but I thought I'd give some priliminary info...

The CPU Stepping is IQYHA 0407VPMW So I have some high hopes for this processor! The (blue) chenbro gaming bomb is a bit more conservative looking than one might expect based on the pictures off the webpage. The blue is a bit darker and more gray than the blue used on logitech optical mice. It's a reasonably nice looking case. The geil ram is nice looking and the heatspreader seems to be evenly applied. I haven't gotten a chance to take the coolmax powersupply out of the box, but the box plesently is much heavier than I expected.
