Thanks everyone for your helpful suggestions on coffee maker cleaning. As per advice, I mixed about half vinegar and half water in the pot, put it thru, dumped it, and did about 5 rounds of clean water last night. I thought it still smelled a bit so I washed everything in soap/water, and hoped it would be okay in the AM.

This smorning it still smells like vinegar, so I've done another 5 rounds of clean water and more soap/water scrubbing of the outside, the counter, the floor, and anything that could possibly have vinegar on it.

Dang thing still smells like vinegar. How do I get the vinegar completely out? I'm about to run a pot of soapy water thru the darned thing - don't care if it ruins it, I can't use it anyway smelling like vinegar.

I'd link the previous thread but I haven't had my coffee yet and can't work the search. Grrrrr.

Just make a pot of coffee. I bet the coffee doesen't smell/taste like vinegar at all, and it will probably also rid your coffee maker of the smell.

Did you use white vinegar or normal? White vinegar doesn't smell as bad so try that next time, I use it on my coffee maker once every month or so, like Eli said just make the pot of coffee (I always chuck the first pot away) and it should be alright after that.
