So I have been looking for a summer job since finals ended on may 20. After a week of applying to lots of places, I came across a pharmacy (Big company) and the manager told me to come back the next week (he was going on vacation) and had me fill out a background check form. So I come back that day next week and everything worked out with the check, so he tells me to call him back the next day for my hours and he would have a hire kit for me.

I call him, and instead of getting my hours he asks me to pick this kit up for him from another store and to drop by after. I did and after I show up, I fill out the payroll forms in the kit and everything. Then he tells me he needs my social security card and passport (maybe you could of told me when you spoke to me this morning?!!) to fax along with the forms. I drive home gather the material and drive back same day (I really want to start working). Guess what? The copy machine broke and he can't fax the original (to small/thin for machine). I offer to go back home again and fax the copy to him myself (could have done that in the first place!). He says that he will call me when the payroll processes the forms ( said 1-2 days) and to read the handbook he gave me.

After 3 week days I call him on a saturday and ask him what's going on? He says he would call me and now says it takes 2-3 days for it to process. He said most likley monday. Guess what today is wednsday and still no call. It has been a week since I filled out the payroll and 3 weeks total. Thanks for wasting my time, which I could have used to find an actual job.:disgust:

Should I call corporate to complain?

Did they offer you a job? Why are you complaining? Sounds like you just got entered into their database, I see no job offer here, so why the rush?

I've had a similar experiance before. If that's how they treat new hires just think of what it would have been like to actually work there. Be happy you didn't get in.

Maybe, but it was just for the summer and I really need some money for books. Now it's going to be impossible to find another job this late into the summer.

simms, he did offer me the job.

Sorry, must have misread it then, I didn't read a part about a job offer.

The manager is usually busy. You are out of sight & out of mind.

Take the initiative and contact him.

Remind him that he was supposed to contact you about a start date on Monday.
Imply a guilt trip but do not come out and put it on him.
