I just wanted to say thanks for the suggestions when putting my new rig together.

I bought an Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 2.8GHz for $119, Asus P5QL Pro P43 ATX Motherboard for $86, 2GB of OCZ PC2 8500 Dual Channel Memory $26, and a Sapphire Radeon HD4650 PCI-e video card $54. Running Windows XP Pro w/SP2. Total cost $285.

The new hardware went into my Lian-Li PC-65 case with OCZ power supply (can't remember which model) and I have two SATA hard drives, a 250GB and a 500GB drive in there.

My goal was to have a relatively speedy system that is stable, low cost, and quiet. Mission accomplished!

Install was smooth and everything worked out of the box. I did have a small problem early on with the memory timing but reading the manual helped solve that.

I know this isn't the high performance gaming rig everyone here dreams of but it's a heck of a lot faster and quieter than my old rig was. I can always stick a better video card in there at a later date. I was running an AMD Athlon 3400 single core with 1GB RAM and a Radeon 9800 non-pro AGP video card prior. ;)

Great machine there. Nice job. Gotta love building budget boxes that destroy high end gaming configs from 1.5 years ago, eh? $285 is a damn good price.
