Thanks AMD for your new video cards. nVidia will drop prices soon.

Since nVidia is 1 year behind AMD/ATI They dont have a 480 dual GPU card

so 480 vs 5970 ,,, and the 480 came out 6 months later. 5970 was out for while and blows it away with its dual GPU.

FACT: nVidia will not come out with new generation 5xx card until late next year. By that time AMD has a newer 6xxx like introducing the dual GPU version or just a single GPU higher model number and what not.

However they boast about a stupid announcment on Oct 19 which is going to be the introduction of a consumer budget card GT430 and price drops.

Now I can pick up a 460 GTX for 200 dollars or less.

People do not buy a nVidia card until 6xxx is officially out so nVidia will drop prices and yall can get that 480 or 470 or 460 you dreamed about.

I can't wait to see what the 6000 series have to offer, next week should be very interesting. I am looking to replace my 4870 so hopefully will be upgrading it soon. My upgrade will either be something from AMD or the GeForce GTX 460 1GB which looks very good.

I have actually been going back and fourth on weather to get a GTX 480 or AMD 5970. Guess maybe I should wait a little while longer.

I'm also looking to replace my GTX 260, probably with the Barts XT.

AMD will be the way to go IMHO. Not that the 460 is bad or anything, I just feel you will get more out of an AMD card for longevity. My 4870 will go by the end of the year also, and most likely a 5 series or 6.

Yes, im in the "going to replace my 4870" club. Can't wait. I already saved up some cash. The fact that we get cards a bit later than the rest of the world is a bummer though.

Im in the going to replace my 4890 group. Was going to with the GTX 460, but wasnt really significant enough for me. If the 6870 does 10-20% above it, id bite probably.

Nice Skurge, Thanks, and thanks to all replies. Things will def get interesting very soon. new products for AMD and same ole nvidia products but with a price drop.

I think the 460 will go to 150 dollars 1GB version 180 dollars. what yall think that is attractive price..

The 460 is already at $169, so another 20 bucks off isn't much to get excited about IMHO.

I'm itching to replace my 4870 X2 card. I tell ya, a dual GPU card isn't exactly all peaches and cream.

I still haven't decided if I want a 6970 or a GTX 480. Price will be a factor in the decision of course, so hopefully the new AMD 6900 cards can drive the GTX 480 price down some more.

I doubt that Nvidia will be completely answer-less to the new AMD 6000 series though. The GF100 and GF104 both have some unused cores available they could unlock. But sadly very little on if or when that would happen.

I'm going to replace my 4830 with something nice. My only question is when. Usually there is an early adapter penalty, but with the 5XXX their was a not-fast-enough adapter penalty. I prefer to wait and see how things fall out, but I don't want to miss the boat either.

Dear god....

Yes, what now!? Look OCGuy I already told you it just isn't right for a divine spirit such as myself to be giving just one person those kind of volumes of anal lube, I'm not going to change my mind. I draw the line at one 5G bucket per month in my "prayer granted" budget.

Now stop calling on me, serious unlike my friend, much uncool. :colbert:

😛 😉

What was that?...or should I say What what was that...

On topic: Yeah, the 6 series look interesting enough to wanna make me spend some hard earned money to replace my less than a year old HD 5770...

Damn you cool hardware...DAMN YOU!
