For deciding the Yankee/Tiger CC vs Verlander was the better game for ratings instead of starting the game earlier and avoiding the rain.

Nobody cares on the west coast about the Yankees. In fact most people on the east coast can't stand them either. You could have played it safe and got 2 games in on Friday but instead got 1 and re-runs of family guy.

I wasted 4 hours watching 2 innings of baseball, spent around $100 in parking and food and can't make it to the "rescheduled" game tomorrow night. FU

Since when did the stations decide the start of a game time? Fail.

Yea. Because TBS is so powerful in the world of baseball that they get to set the schedule for MLB games. And when they set the schedule whenever they set it some time ago, they somehow knew it was going to rain. Hell they didnt even thikn it was going to rain enough for a delay when the first pitch was thrown.

I got screwed too. I have tickets to ALDS game 2 and can't make it on Sunday, but you can't do anything about mother nature.

This is the 4th Yankee game this year that I got fucked around with because of rain/rainouts

Side note: The CC/Verlander matchup *was* a better matchup for ratings. But regardless thats not nor was it ever up to TBS decide.

I'm just pissed it's TBS only, and mlb.tv doesn't do the regular tv broadcast streaming. Canceled my cable a few weeks back. Was watching this game on some streaming site for free, but SD on a 58" 1080p plasma is rough.

So explain to me why the tickets had date and time TBD printed on them. They only let us know the specifics on Wednesday. The yankees clinched a playoff birth weeks ago. If it really didn't matter who they played they could had scheduled it.

I wish they had just let us go to the game on Sunday instead. By moving us to Saturday night you are screwing both groups of people. I cannot attend Saturday night's game and I know people that bought Saturday night tickets (game 2) that cannot go on Sunday.

Had MLB done it that way it would at least give us (game 1-ers) time to sell the ticket for sunday or at least make other arrangements. By the time I got home last night I have 20 hours to try and move these tickets.

Weeks ago? They clinched a playoff birth after the first game of the doubleheader on Sep 21 and got the East crown after the second game.

When did you receive the tickets?

ok, a week and a half ago. I bought the tickets on the 26th and the game was last night the 30th.

I honestly don't know why you are complaining. They couldn't give you specifics because the other playoff teams/seeds weren't decided until the final day of the regular season (Wednesday). They can't let you go to the game on Sunday because you are paying to see a specific game in the series, regardless of the day it's played on. Also, as others have said, they can't control the weather

Edit:
ESPN
So why did the game start if steady showers were on the way? The commissioner's office consulted three weather services Friday before making a decision, and Yankees president Randy Levine said the rain "came from nowhere."
Fooled by the radar.
Changeup.
"We certainly were not going to start a game if we had a forecast of heavy rain. Whether it was CC or Justin or two other guys, because it certainly isn't fair to either club," said Joe Torre, executive vice president of baseball operations for MLB. "Our forecast was light, intermittent showers. Nothing that was threatening, except until late tonight. Obviously that forecast changed, and we came up with the result that we did."

What are you talking about? 3 of the 4 teams were in. Of those 3, Detroit and Texas were battling for home field. Either way the yankees were going to play one of them.

What it came down to was Boston or Tampa going to get in. My guess is if Boston got in then they were going to be the late game. Otherwise why wouldn't they announce the start time for the Yankees?

Had they reversed the start times for both games then MLB wouldn't had been in this situation. Don't give me that BS from being fooled by the weather radar. I was sitting in my seat, looking at the TWC app and I could see the band of rain coming from the south for 2 hours. Didn't take a genius to figure out the game would get canned
